Unmentionables

First, what do you suppose it says about me that I cackled like mad reading londo_mollari's latest entry?

Also, I really need to know this just for my own personal edification: Am I the only one who sometimes wonders about... you know... certain activities of daily living, to put it euphemistically, when it comes to our favorite B5 aliens? Like, you know, hygiene and, well, other stuff? Or am I just a sick, sick woman? *g*

that you're secretly fond of Londo venting his dark side? *g*

As for matters of personal hygiene, well, considering Minbari secrete fluids, according to Delenn, I imagine the Centauri and Narn might come up with something original, too. Though given Vir's problems at MacBari's and G'Kar's methods to break out of jail, a case can be made for a digestive system very similar to a human one.

Yes, though I don't know anyone who can vomit on command. *g* And the aforementioned breaking-out-of-jail scene seems to suggest that Narn digestive fluids are more acrid.

Re: matters of biology

Wait a second ... you're telling me that Narns have concious controll of their gag reflex and highly acidic digestive fluids in canon?

*looks at unfinished fanfic*

Sometimes I think I do have a psychic link with this show. Scary.

... and I think that probably answers the original question *g*. The way I see it, if you're going to write about aliens you need to know the messy details. I blame Farscape (which could have been titled 101 Uses For Disgusting Alien Fluids) for desensitising me to the ick factor.

oh, you'll get a definite Farscape feeling...

...in that jailbreak scene.*g*

And yes, they do.

Ah, but does it climb walls?

And yes, they do.

I have random bits of story where G'Kar is extolling the strength of the Narn digestive system and Londo points out that he could digest anything, too, if he had an acid pit for a stomach. And G'Kar's lack of gag reflex ... er ... came up in converstation in another set of notes entirely.

Sometimes I scare me.

Ah, but does it climb walls?

We don't get to see. *g* The relevant scene is one of the few comic relief moments in a very angsty episode.

Canonically sound.

Ah. A most tantalizing hint.*g*
Hence one of the reasons behind eps like "A View from the Gallery". Don't think there's quite enough of a market for a spoof reality show with *complete* details of characters lives in B5 (or any other sci-fi show for that matter), but we're still interested in the details beyond the storylines. We want to know how it all fits together, and part of that is the details that sometimes get missed out (unless they're interesting, messy, or just plain perverted).
